What is Sejda PDF?

Sejda PDF is a free online toolbox of 40+ PDF tools that run in your browser. You can merge, split, compress, convert, sign, protect and edit PDF files without installing anything and without creating an account. Each tool does one job well, keeps your original file untouched, and hands back a finished document in seconds - on desktop, tablet or phone.

Do I need an account to use the tools?

No. Open a tool, drop a file in and download the result - there is no signup wall, no email confirmation and no trial countdown between you and a finished document. An account only becomes useful later, when you want your preferred settings, recent tools and export defaults remembered between visits. Everything on the site works the same whether you are signed in or not, including on a borrowed or locked-down computer where you cannot install software.

What happens to the files I upload?

They are processed for your session only and removed automatically afterwards. We do not read, index, sell or share document content, and nothing is used to train models. Download links are not published anywhere and expire with the session, so a merged contract or a scanned medical record exists in exactly two places: on your own device and, briefly, in the memory used to process it. Is there a file size limit?

Everyday documents of a few hundred megabytes are fine. The slow case is always high-resolution scanning: a 600 dpi color scan carries many times more data per page than a text export from Word, so a 300-page scanned bundle takes noticeably longer than a 300-page report. If a very large job feels sluggish, split it into two or three runs. Processing speed also depends on the device - a laptop gets through heavy work faster than an older phone.

Does it work on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Every tool is built for touch as well as mouse, with targets large enough to hit accurately and layouts that reflow to a narrow screen instead of forcing you to pinch and pan. Which formats can I convert?

Scanned documents should go through OCR first, otherwise the page is only a photograph and there is no text for the converter to carry across.
