Sejda PDF - a complete PDF workshop that runs in your browser

Almost every document that leaves an office ends up as a PDF, and almost every PDF eventually needs one more change - a page removed, two files joined, a scan made searchable, a size brought under an email limit. The format is excellent at staying the same everywhere and awkward the moment you want to alter it.

That gap is what this toolbox fills. Each tool does one job properly: combine files, pull pages out, shrink a heavy scan, make an image-only document searchable, add a signature, lock a copy with a password, or convert between PDF and the formats you actually edit in. You open a page, drop a file, and get a usable document back - no installer, no license key, no account, no forty-minute detour through settings you will never touch again.

The interface is deliberately quiet: sensible defaults, plain language instead of jargon, and the original file left untouched so you can try a second time with different settings at no cost. Whether you are preparing a court bundle, a thesis chapter, a board pack or a school permission slip, the sequence is the same and takes about a minute.

Why choose Sejda PDF?

Built for speed, privacy, and ease of use. Focus on your work, not the tool.

Lightning fast

Process PDFs in your browser with no lengthy uploads or queues.

Privacy first

Your files stay on your device. We never store or share your documents.

Simple to use

Drag, drop, and done. No tutorials or signups required.

Always available

Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile - whenever you need it.

What you can count on

Four things stay true no matter which of the forty-plus tools you open.

Private by default

Files are processed for your session and then discarded. No indexing, no training, no sharing.

Fast on ordinary files

A typical report is done before you have finished reading the confirmation line.

Works everywhere

Any modern browser, on desktop, tablet or phone. Nothing to install or update.

Free to get things done

Generous everyday limits, no watermark on your output and no forced signup.

How a job actually goes

Four steps, roughly a minute, and nothing overwritten on your own machine.

  1. 1

    Pick the outcome

Browse by what you want to end up with - one file, a smaller file, an editable file - not by format.

  2. 2

    Drop the document in

Drag it from your desktop or choose it from your device. Page count and size are shown before anything runs.

  3. 3

    Adjust if you need to

Sensible defaults are already set, so most jobs need no configuration at all.

  4. 4

    Download and check

Open the first, last and one middle page. That thirty-second check catches almost everything.

Built for real paperwork

The same toolbox covers a signed contract, a scanned thesis and a 400-page case bundle.

Teams and admin

Merge weekly reports, stamp them with page numbers and send one attachment instead of nine.

Legal work

Bates-number an entire case bundle, redact-by-whiteout, then flatten so nothing can shift.

Study and research

Split scanned books down the middle, run OCR and search a decade of papers in seconds.

Forms and paperwork

Fill in a form on screen, sign it with your finger and email it back without a printer.

Common questions

Everything people usually ask before trusting a document to an online tool.

What is Sejda PDF?
Sejda PDF is a free online toolbox of 40+ PDF tools that run in your browser. You can merge, split, compress, convert, sign, protect and edit PDF files without installing anything and without creating an account. Each tool does one job well, keeps your original file untouched, and hands back a finished document in seconds - on desktop, tablet or phone.
Do I need an account to use the tools?
No. Open a tool, drop a file in and download the result - there is no signup wall, no email confirmation and no trial countdown between you and a finished document. An account only becomes useful later, when you want your preferred settings, recent tools and export defaults remembered between visits. Everything on the site works the same whether you are signed in or not, including on a borrowed or locked-down computer where you cannot install software.
What happens to the files I upload?
They are processed for your session only and removed automatically afterwards. We do not read, index, sell or share document content, and nothing is used to train models. Download links are not published anywhere and expire with the session, so a merged contract or a scanned medical record exists in exactly two places: on your own device and, briefly, in the memory used to process it. Several tools - merging among them - run entirely inside your browser, which means those files never travel over the network at all.
Is there a file size limit?
Everyday documents of a few hundred megabytes are fine. The slow case is always high-resolution scanning: a 600 dpi color scan carries many times more data per page than a text export from Word, so a 300-page scanned bundle takes noticeably longer than a 300-page report. If a very large job feels sluggish, split it into two or three runs. Processing speed also depends on the device - a laptop gets through heavy work faster than an older phone.
Does it work on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Every tool is built for touch as well as mouse, with targets large enough to hit accurately and layouts that reflow to a narrow screen instead of forcing you to pinch and pan. You can sign a contract from a phone on the way to a meeting, photograph a form and turn it into a PDF, or reorder pages with a drag of your thumb. Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge are all supported on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.
Which formats can I convert?
PDF in and out of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, plain text, HTML and the common image formats - JPG, PNG and TIFF. Conversions keep the structure that matters: headings stay headings in Word, numbers stay numbers in Excel rather than becoming text, and images keep their placement rather than collapsing into a single flattened picture. Scanned documents should go through OCR first, otherwise the page is only a photograph and there is no text for the converter to carry across.
Are the tools really free?
The tools on this site are free to try with generous everyday limits that cover normal personal and office use - merging a handful of reports, compressing an attachment, signing a contract. Heavy, repeated batch work is where a paid plan would come in. There is no hidden watermark on free output and no artificial delay designed to push you into upgrading; the free result is the same file a paying user would get.
How do I choose the right tool for my job?
Start from the outcome rather than the file format. If the problem is that you have too many files, you want merging. If one file is too big for email, you want compression. If you cannot select text in a scan, you want OCR. If someone must not be able to change what you send, you want flattening or a password. The catalog is grouped exactly along those lines - organize, split, edit, optimize, protect and convert - so you can scan the category headings and land on the right page without reading forty descriptions.
Can I chain several tools together?
Yes, and most real jobs need it. A typical sequence is: repair or straighten a scan, run OCR so it becomes searchable, merge it with the covering letter, compress the result to fit an attachment limit, then add page numbers before sending. Because every tool reads and writes ordinary PDF, the output of one is valid input for the next and you can stop at any point. Nothing locks you into a proprietary format, and the final file opens in any reader on any device.
